Shield Talk
So I have been looking for a perfect shield with some good stats for my warrior and I happened upon a weapon crafter in Kaeinig Center that sells an armor 16, damage reduction by 5, hp+30 for 5k. That seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Granted, the shield was a boring bronze skin but it serves its purpose. My question is how many shields out there can boast the stats of this one for the same price? Also, is it better to have armor +7 vs. physical attacks or damage reduction by 5? Not sure about the mathematical stats but it seems like a wash. Just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I honestly have no idea about the numbers. I will just add in that I really like the bronze shield skin. I specifically went and crafted this one for my new warrior and threw my irridescent aegis' back into storage. :-)

pretty sure that the shield u are talking about has same stats as the Green Exalted Agies(sp) Personally I don't care for the -5(20%) of the time cuz what that means is acutally -1 all the time :P so i like the -2 enchanted/stance or all time shields. Its not a bad buy if u don't want to try to find a "nicer" skinned one. the exalted ageis i was talking about goes for like 20k i believe....

Finishing factions is good, an exalted aegis has those exact stats and has the coolest looking shield skin in the game, also its free and dont worry, all the other warrior greens are useless anyway.
as for the +7 vs +5, it all depends on what you are fighting really

I could have sworn the -5 damage mod was unconditional and not 20%. I could be wrong...If I am, then you're all absolutely correct: the exalted aegis is the exact same thing and a lot better looking IMHO. As far as the armor stats go +7 etc... I was looking at whether it was better than -5 damage stat. If the -5 damage is a 20% chance like you all say I would rather find a shield with the armor stat. Just seems to be more worth while. Any other suggestions on cool skinned shields that are 10k and below?

4 shields have those stats (afaik) - 2 are Green (Exalted Aegis and Sunreach's Shield), 1 is a crafter shield (the bronze shield skin) and 1 is a collector shield (boring wooden buckler)...all are -5 (20%)/+30hp.

How would you rate it in comparison to some of the other high end shields...ie: magma, irradescent, shadow, or greens?

Coolest looking is relative. I prefer a Tall Shield skin over the Exalted Aegis, or almost any other shield in the game, really. Although Nightfall's amazing new shield skins will change all that (Scarab Shield, baby... >drools<).

Lord Hautdesert the shield you bought from the crafter has max stats, a "high end shield", as you call them, wouldn't have any higher stats than the one you have. Other shields do have different stats like: -2dmg while enchanted or in stance, -3dmg while hexed, +60 hp while hexed, +45 hp while enchanted or in stance. So, if you are happy with the -5 (20%) +30 and don't care much about the skin, then the shield you have if perfect for you. If you want a nice "high end shield" with max stats would be really expensive and the greens with these stats range for 20-40k.
Probably more information then you cared to read but I hope it helps.
edit: Also, you can get collector/ crafter shields with practacly any max stat setup you want.

No Ori that was perfect. Thank you all for the info. Where are these collectors? Is there a map somewhere here in Guru? What skins do the collectors have? Thanks again for all the great info guys.

There's a pretty good list of collectors on the guildwiki, where they are, what they want, what they have. Crafters too. Most skins are bronze shields, bucklers etc. Not usually considered "pretty" skins. But it all depends on your tastes, and what armour (and colour of your armour) you have I guess.

Since the damage reduction is physical only I generally dont care about that as long as the shield has some nice HP mod I am fine. This is of course PvP based.
Any Warrior fighting another warrior knows they should switch weapon.
PvE monster's arent that bright and my Exalted Aegis works well there.

Its best to have a few different types. Though before when the -5dmg 20% chance worked for all damages it was probably the best. Though it depends on what you're doing try keeping a -2 +30 (uncondition hp) and a -2 +30 hp stance shield. Switch when needed, keep it simple.
